Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (several posts) in Finance in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 516852), to commence on July 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at Professor/Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.

The finance area of the Faculty consists of 29 research-active faculty members and runs a high-quality weekly seminar series. Faculty members in the finance group published 37 papers in JF, JFE, and RFS since 2018 (top 25 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in UT Dallas Business School Ranking based on these three journals). Teaching, research, and professional activities are conducted in English. Information about the Faculty can be obtained at http://www.fbe.hku.hk/.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in finance or related areas. All fields of finance will be considered. The appointees should be able to teach undergraduate and/or graduate degree programmes; and are expected to commit to high-quality scholarly research, teaching, and services. Applicants for appointment as Professor should also have a proven record of high-quality scholarship and teaching and should be able to conduct an ongoing active research agenda and provide leadership and services within the Faculty and the University. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
